Gynecomastia – (Male Breast Reduction Plastic Surgery)
Men’s mammary glands usually do not develop, but they can become salient by hormonal changes or obesity, causing great aesthetic and emotional discomfort.
The corrective surgery is done through a small and subtle incision on the outline of the areola, where the skin is darker. Excessive fat is removed with liposuction and, if necessary, the breast tissue is removed with a scalpel. The stitches are made with mono nylon yarn to minimize traces of the surgery.
Local anesthesia with sedation and monitoring is applied. The patient stays in the hospital or clinic only on the day of surgery. The patient has to use elastic compression garment in the first 30 days. Lymphatic drainage is a good indication for this type of postoperative. The patient can return to work within a few days, depending on the level of activity performed with the arms. More strenuous activities require four weeks.
